Perennial short herbs, 5-10 cm high. The main root is long and deep with branches. Most of the stems are clumped, dense and clustered, cushion like, semicircular, 17 cm or more in diameter. The base of the stem is lignified, and the upper part has forked branches. Leaves opposite, slightly stiff, needlelike; above concave, 1-2 cm long, ca. 1 mm wide. The base is slightly amplexicaul and membranous, with rent teeth on the margin. Flowers solitary at the end of branches; pedicels short, 3-5 mm long, pilose; sepals 5, lanceolate, apex sharp, margin membranous, median rib prominent, glabrous; petals 5, obovate, shorter than sepals, white; stamens 10, filaments strip; ovary subglobose, 1-locular, with many ovules, styles 3, filaments. Capsule globose, shorter than persistent sepals; seeds numerous, flat, margin narrowly winged.

Born in the gap of rock mountain or grassland. It is distributed in the west of Sichuan and Qinghai.
