[source] it is the gall of cattle, goat or sheep. See "mutton" for animal morphology.

[collection] the gallbladders were cut when sheep were slaughtered, and the bile ducts were tied tightly with thread and hung in a ventilated place to dry. Fresh bile can also be used as medicine.

[chemical composition] the main components of sheep bile are bile salts, bile pigments (mainly bilirubin and bile green), mucin, cholesterol, lecithin, sodium bicarbonate, etc.

Bile acid in bile is generally combined with glycine and taurine to form conjugated bile acid; because bile is weakly alkaline, the conjugated bile acid salt is generally sodium salt, and its aqueous solution has strong emulsifying effect on oil, which is an important material for intestinal digestion of oil. The main bile acids in goats and sheep are cholic acid and deoxycholic acid. The content of cholic acid in goat or sheep is about 10 times higher than that of deoxycholic acid.

[clinical application] treatment of pulmonary tuberculosis

There are liquid, pill, capsule and other different dosage forms. Liquid agent: tie the gallbladder mouth of fresh sheep gall tightly with thread (if the gall is too much, it can be squeezed out to be able to swallow in one mouthful), wash it with clean water, steam it with water for 1-2 hours, and swallow it on an empty stomach or before sleeping in the morning. One per day. If it is difficult to swallow the whole one, it is advisable to take the bile in batches and eat some cakes after taking it. Pill: take fresh bile into a sand pot, boil it into liquid extract with slow fire, add equal amount of lactose, mix well, make 0.5 or 1g pill, put it in lime jar and continue to dry. Capsule (powder): the boiled fluid extract is dried in the oven, then ground and put into the capsule; or fresh sheep bile and preservatives are added, evaporated and concentrated on the water bath, and placed in the oven below 120 ℃ for 2 hours, and then moved to the dehumidifier to cool and grind the powder. Dosage: 1-1.2g sheep gall dry powder is used every day. Among the 54 cases in Zhejiang Province, 51 cases took it for 3 months and 3 cases took it for 6 months. Results there were 34 cases of improved absorption, 20 cases of no change, and no case of spread or deterioration. For chronic fibrocavitary pulmonary tuberculosis, although there is definite curative effect, the improvement of the focus is not significant; for endobronchial tuberculosis, if it belongs to early submucosal infiltration, it is effective, but for chronic fibrocavitary pulmonary tuberculosis with severe endobronchial tuberculosis, the curative effect is not satisfactory; for long-term use of anti tuberculosis drugs, there is no significant difference Those who are effective often show their special curative effect. In the course of treatment, some patients had mild diarrhea (2-7 times / day), abdominal pain, or dry mouth, throat irritation, stomach burning, etc. after 3-15 days. For dry mouth and stomach irritation symptoms, it can increase the amount of drinking water; for diarrhea, it can increase the amount of fat or use cod liver oil, which can gradually disappear or reduce; if diarrhea is still available, it can be taken with 1.5 points of light Fructus evodiae, guangmuxiang and stir fried Chuanlian in wine respectively, 3 times a day, and the diarrhea can be alleviated or stopped after taking 1-2 times. Another experience is that if you eat spicy or cold food during medication, it is easy to cause severe stomach pain and vomiting.
