Climbing shrubs, 1-3 meters long. Rhizome transverse, woody, thick. Stem hard, sparsely spiny. Single leaf alternate, leathery, ovate, elliptic to suborbicular, 3-8 cm long and 2.5-7 cm wide, apex short pointed or obtuse and pointed, base truncated or suborbicular; petiole thick, slightly curved, with tendril 2 in the middle and sheath like in the lower part. Flowers unisexual, dioecious, umbel axillary, small yellow green, perianth segments 6. Berries globose, red when ripe. It blooms in spring.
Born on hillside, forest edge and roadside. It is distributed in Yunnan.
