Climbing shrubs. Stem dark brown, densely covered with yellow punctate lenticels. The leaflets are stipitate, opposite, 9-15, oblong, 3.5-8.5 cm long, 1.5-3 cm wide, apex acute, base cuneate or broadly cuneate, entire, thick papery, covered with rust colored pubescence. Raceme axillary, nodose, peduncle pubescent; flowers clustered on nodes; calyx cup-shaped, purplish red, apex 5-toothed; corolla butterfly shaped, pink, petals clawed, flag petals round, apex slightly concave, wing petals nearly rectangular, keel slightly larger, clasping stamens; stamens 10, 1 group; pistil 1, ovary columnar, outside pubescent, style curved, stigma capitate. The pods are flat with narrow wings on one side, 2-lobed, 6-9.5 cm long and 1.3 cm wide. Seeds 5, reniform, brownish yellow, smooth. The flowering period is from August to October. The fruiting period is November.
