[plant morphology] Vitis tomentosa

Liana essential, 8 m long. The young branches, petioles and inflorescence axes are densely covered with white or bean sand spider filiform hairs. Leaves ovate or pentagonal ovate, 8-11 cm long, 6-8 cm wide, margin serrate, undivided or inconspicuous 3-5-angled, or 3-5-lobed, first acute, base nearly truncate or shallowly cordate, glabrous above, densely covered with grayish white or grayish brown tomentose below. Panicles 8-11 cm long, branches nearly spreading, densely tomentose; flowers small, yellowish green, pedicellate, glabrous; calyx inconspicuous; petals 5, ca. 1.8 mm; stamens 5. Berry globose, black purple, 6-8 mm in diameter.

It grows in the bush of low hillside, stone cliff or ditch side. It is distributed in Shaanxi, Guangxi, Yunnan, Guizhou, Sichuan, Gansu, Hubei, Jiangxi, Anhui, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, etc.
