[plant morphology] Panax notoginseng
Perennial herbs, 20-30 cm high. The rhizome is irregular round, fragrant and spicy. The top of the branch of the rhizome expands into a ball, and new seedlings can grow. Leaves basal, usually 2-3 pieces, similar to bamboo leaves, apex short pointed, base narrow and into a stalk, with many arc-shaped parallel veins. The flowers are yellow.
It is cultivated in Guangdong, Guangxi and Jiangxi.
[collection] in autumn, winter and spring, dig the rhizomes, wash them, and dry them in the sun.
[flavor] pungent, slightly bitter, warm.
[function indications] it can disperse blood stasis and detumescence, promote blood circulation and stop bleeding, promote qi circulation and relieve pain. It is used to treat bruise pain, rheumatism and bone pain, hematemesis, bleeding, menorrhagia, insect and snake bite.
[usage and dosage] oral administration: decoct soup, 2-3 yuan; or soak in wine. External use: powder compress.
