Perennial herbs, 1-2 m high. Rhizome stout, transverse, rhizome below scattered many cylindrical roots. The stem has longitudinal furrows, many branches, old branches nearly glabrous, young branches sparsely pubescent. Leaves alternate, 2-3 pinnate compound, 30-40 cm long, stipules; leaflets petiolate, 1-8 cm long, apical petiole longer; leaflets 9b-shaped or heart-shaped, 4-12 cm long, 2-9 cm wide, apex acuminate, base round or kidney shaped, margin serrate or double serrate, sparsely pubescent on both sides. Panicle compound umbel terminal or axillary, pedicel 4.6-11 cm long, pubescent; involucre or bracteoles with or without; each umbel has about 20-35 flowers; calyx cup-shaped, apex 5-toothed, lobes triangular; petals 6. White or light yellow, ovate, apex slightly pointed; stamens 5, filaments very short; ovary inferior, style about half as long as stamens, stigma 5-lobed. Berries globose, 2-3 mm long. 6 seeds.
