[plant morphology] Viola striata
Perennial herbs. The tuberous roots are spindle shaped, several clustered, brown, 1-1.5 cm long and about 4 mm thick. Stem erect, thin and weak, 30-50 cm high, unbranched, sparsely leafy above middle. Leaves alternate, pinnately divided, lobes linear to narrowly lanceolate, 1.5-4 cm long; basal leaves usually absent. Raceme 2-9 cm long; bracts narrowly lanceolate or strip-shaped, sometimes narrowly ovate, entire or sparsely lobulated; sepals very small; petals yellow, upper petals 1.2-2.2 cm long, 0.6-1.5 cm long from near cylindrical, terminal round, slightly downward curved, lower petal base saccate. Capsule narrow oblong, drooping at maturity, 1-1.5 cm long. Seeds oblate, bright black.
Born on the wet slopes of high mountains. Distributed in Shaanxi, Gansu, Qinghai, Sichuan and other places.
