[plant morphology] Polygonum capitatum
Perennial herbs. Stem spreading, apex obliquely upward, surface red, nodes pilose. Leaves alternate, elliptic, 2.5-5 cm long, 1-2 cm wide, apex acute, base cuneate, entire, ciliate, margin and leaf back often reddish; petiole reddish, about 1-3 mm long, base auricular, phimosis; stipules sheathed, apex flat, villous. Raceme erect, subglobose; perianth pale red, 5-lobed, lobes elliptic, apex slightly obtuse, ca. 2 mm long; stamens 8, filaments white, transparent, glands yellowish green, oblong, located at the base of filaments, anthers pale blue; ovary superior, greenish yellow, surface smooth, style upper 3-lobed, stigma spherical. Achenes enclosed in persistent flowers, ovate, 3-ribbed, smooth, glabrous. The flowering period is from August to October. The fruit period is from September to November.
Born on rocks. It is distributed in the southwest of China.
