Perennial grass vines. The root is globose with black epidermis and light white inside. The stem is 2-4 meters high, the branchlets are dark green, bald and clean, and tetragonal. Tendril apex bifurcate, opposite leaves. 5-2.5 cm in length, with broad groove on petiole surface; leaflets long elliptic, ovoid or obovate elliptic, 3-6 cm in length, 2-3 cm in width, apex acuminate or short pointed, margin front half sparsely serrate, base slightly round or broadly cuneate, dark green above, green below, 5-7 pairs of lateral veins, reaching to the apex of leaf margin, petiole 4-8 mm long; Stipules 2, triangular. Compound umbel; peduncle 2-3 cm long; sometimes with 2 bracts; perianth 4-piece, light green with white, ovate triangle, about 2.5 mm long; stamens 8, filaments short, anthers small, yellow; pistil 1, style short, stigma 4-lobed. Berries round, ca. 6 mm in diam., blue when ripe. 1-2 seeds. The flowering period is from April to June. The fruit period is from November to December.
