[source] it is the seed of Pittosporum glandularis.
[plant morphology] Pittosporum glandularis, also known as shanfan tree, Shanzhi, shanzhicha and shanhaitong.
Small evergreen trees. Upper branches sometimes whorled, all glabrous. The petiole is 5-10 mm in length, and the middle rib is prominent. Flowers yellow, at the top of branchlets, forming corymbs, usually 6-13; flower diameter about 7 mm; pedicel 10-15 mm long, smooth surface; calyx base united, 5-lobed, lobes broadly ovate, smooth surface, margin hairy; petals 5, 3 times longer than calyx; stamens 5, alternate with petals; ovary often 3-locular. Capsule, ovate or elliptic, ca. 1. 5 cm long, 3-valved, seeds mostly dark red. The flowering period is April. The fruit ripens in September.
Born in the forest and wetland. Distributed in Guangdong, Guangxi, Hunan, Sichuan, Guizhou, Shaanxi and other places.

[medicinal material] the dried seeds are granular, irregular and slightly concave polyhedron with different sizes of edges, about 3-7 mm in diameter. The appearance is brown or reddish purple, less application is brown, smooth. Hard, not easy to crush, white heart, smell of oil aroma. It is better to have full grains, red color, strong fragrance and no fruit shell.
It is mainly produced in Sichuan and other places.
