[plant morphology] Cherry
Deciduous shrub, up to 3 meters high. The young branches are densely yellow tomentose. There are usually three buds in parallel, with flower buds on both sides and leaf buds in the middle. Flower buds open earlier or simultaneously with leaf buds. Leaf blade obovate or elliptic, 4-7 cm long, 2.5-3.5 cm wide, apex acuminate or thinly 3-lobed, base broadly cuneate, margin coarsely serrate, dark green above, pubescent below, with dense yellowish villi; petiole 2-7 mm long, densely hairy; stipules linear. Flowers solitary or two; sepals 5, base even tubular, both inside and outside hairy; petals 5, white or pinkish, obovate; stamens numerous; pistils 1. Drupe Subelliptic or subglobose, red when ripe, ca. 1 cm in diam. The flowering period is from April to May. The fruit period is from May to June.
Born on the sunny hillside. It is distributed in most areas of China.
