[plant morphology] Tetrastigma capitatum

Small evergreen trees, 3-10m high. Twigs densely white pilose. Single leaf opposite, leathery or thinly leathery, oblong or oblong lanceolate, 5.5-10 cm long, 2-3 cm wide, apex acute, base cuneate, entire, dark green above, grayish green below, both sides adnate with white pubescence, lateral veins 4-5 pairs, raised below the leaf, with obvious axillary at the intersection of midvein. Inflorescence subglobose, ca. 1. 2 cm in diam., with 4 yellow white petaloid involucres. Involucral bract obovate, apex pointed, 3-4 cm long, 2-3 cm wide; calyx tubular, 4-lobed, lobes round and obtuse; petals 4, yellow; stamens 4; disk cup-shaped; ovary inferior, 2-locular. The inflorescence is oblate, purplish red; the total stipe is stout, 4-7 cm long.

It grows on hillsides, ditches and shrubs. It is distributed in Yunnan, Sichuan and Tibet.
