[plant morphology] Rhizoma Dioscoreae
Shrub, 1-2m high. Young branches densely hairy. Leaves alternate, broadly ovate or round, 7-13 cm long and 9-17 cm wide, apex short pointed, base heart-shaped, margin dentate, upper green, sparsely short hairy, lower purple, densely hairy, basal 3-veined; petiole 3-9 cm long, with 2 linear stipules. Flowers unisexual, monoecious, apetalous, male flowers dense, into short tubular spikes, calyx spherical, 4-lobed, tweezers, stamens 8, female flowers sparse into spikes, located under the male inflorescence, ovary 3-locular, style 3, linear. Capsule globose, 3-lobed, style persistent.
Most of them grow in the bushes on sunny hillsides and roadsides. It is distributed in Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Anhui, Hubei, Hunan, Guizhou, Sichuan, Shaanxi and other places.
