[plant morphology] 1. Rhododendron
Perennial herbs, about 40 cm high. Pseudobulbar ovoid, fleshy. 1 (~ 2) apical leaves, lanceolate, oblong, 20 ~ 30 cm long, 4 ~ 5 cm wide, apex slightly pointed, base cuneate, with 3 longitudinal main veins, entire, petiolate. The inflorescence is 10-20 cm long, with 10-20 flowers, lateral; bracts are linear lanceolate, membranous, about 3 cm long, apex acute; flowers are pendulous, green to reddish purple; sepals and petals are linear oblanceolate, 3-3.5 cm long, apex acute, lip thick, about 3 cm long, base slightly expanded, apex nearly 3-lobed, lateral Lobes lanceolate, middle lobe oblong, about 9 mm long, apex truncate, reflexed; stigma 2.5 cm long. Capsule 2-2.5 cm long, sessile, pendulous. It blooms in summer.
It's in the wet and shady place. Distribution of the Yellow River basin to southwest, South China and other places.

Perennial herbs. Pseudobulbar narrowly ovate or conical, long necked, bottle shaped, 1.5-2 cm high. Leaves 1, elliptic lanceolate, ca. 10 cm long, ca. 2 cm wide, on top of pseudobulbar. Scapes erect, with one flower, 2-3 sheaths at the lower part; bracts oblong, 2-3 cm long; sepals nearly erect, lanceolate, 4 cm long; petals nearly linear, 4.5 cm long; labellum gradually enlarged from the base of cuneiform, 4 cm long, with inconspicuous 3-lobes; the middle part is unequal square, the edge is erosive tearing, without keel protuberance above; ovary inferior, thin. Capsule oblong, erect, connected to stipe, nearly 3 cm long.
It's on the rocks. It is distributed in Southwest China.

There is a round peduncle mark at the top; there are fibrous roots at the depression of Dilang, about 1-3cm long and 1-2mm thick; there are concave or protruding links at the waist, commonly known as "belt". The pseudobulbar is surrounded by sparse or dense golden yellow filamentous hairs and black fine hairs. Or the fibrous roots and skin have been removed. Solid quality, yellow white or black heart, rough. It is light in taste, slightly fragrant and sticky in water. It is better to be big, plump, yellow white and solid.
It is mainly produced in Sichuan, Guizhou and other places.
② The dry pseudobulbar of Cymbidium alopecuroides is spherical or irregular, 1-1.5cm in diameter, the top is gradually protruding, the base is umbilicate, with fibrous roots or fibrous root marks. The belt is often in the concave part, so it is not very obvious. The surface of the belt is yellow white, light yellow or grayish yellow when the skin is knocked off. The belt with skin is light brown or brown, smooth, or has wrinkles and deep grooves. It is hard and hard to break, and its section is translucent. Weak Qi, light taste, slightly bitter, slightly sticky.
In addition to the above-mentioned varieties, there are pseudobulbous stems of the genus Allium from Yunnan (see Bletilla striata) and the genus Cymbidium from Sichuan and Tibet, which are also used as medicine for Sagittaria.
