Deciduous tree, 3-10m high. Bark gray, branchlets smooth glabrous. Leaves 5-lobed, 10-14 cm long and 12-15 cm wide, base cordate, sometimes truncate, lobes ovate, apex acuminate, margin sparsely close serrated, sub leathery, green above, glossy below, pink white below, hairs in vein axils; petiole 3-4 cm long, usually reddish. Panicle, 5-10 cm in length; variegated flowers, sepals 5, green; petals 5, white; stamens 5-8; disk thickened, slightly pubescent; ovary white pubescent. Samara pale yellow, about 3 cm long, two wings spread into obtuse angle. The flowering period is May. The fruiting period is September.
It grows in the mixed forest on the hillside. It is distributed in Zhejiang, Anhui, Jiangxi, Hubei, Sichuan, Guizhou and Yunnan.
