[plant morphology] rootless rattan

Twining herbs, clinging to other plants by disk-shaped suckers, tender part pubescent. Stems linear, very long, green or greenish brown, glabrous or slightly hairy, leaves degenerate into small scales. Spikes 2-5 cm long, with tiny bracteoles; flowers white, small, sessile, less than 2 mm in length; perianth outer 3 smaller, round, sound green hair, inner 3 larger, ovate; stamens 9, 3 whorls, the first whorl filaments petal shaped, the rest linear: pistil 1, ovary superior. Berry small, globose, fleshy, ca. 7 mm in diam., perianth persistent. The flowering period is from August to December. The fruit period is from November to February next year.

Born in sparse forests and shrubs. Distributed in Guangdong, Guangxi, Sichuan, Fujian and other places.
