[plant morphology] Jasmine (compendium), also known as Moli (Southern vegetation), Moli (Luoyang famous garden), Wuli (Meixi Poetry), Moli (Hongmai).
Evergreen shrubs. Young branches cylindrical, pubescent or subglabrous. Leaves opposite; broadly ovate or elliptic, sometimes subobovate, 4.5-9 cm long and 3.5-5.5 cm wide, apex short pointed or obtuse, base cuneate or cordate, entire, axillary veins with yellow tufts; petiole about 3-7 mm long. Cyme terminal or axillary, usually with 3 flowers; total pedicel 1-3 cm long, pilose; petiole stout, 5-10 mm long, pilose; flowers white fragrant; calyx tubular, lobes 8-10, linear, pilose or glabrous; corolla tube thin, lobes elliptic, apex obtuse; stamens 2, inserted in corolla tube; ovary 2-locular, with 2 ovules per locule. The flowering period is from June to November. It is usually fruitless after flowering.
It is cultivated in moist and fertile soil. It is distributed in Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Fujian, Taiwan, Guangdong, Sichuan and Yunnan.

[collection] the flowers should be harvested on sunny days and dried in the sun before and after July. Store in a dry place.
[medicinal materials] the dried flower is 1.5-2 cm long, about 1 cm in diameter, white when fresh, yellowish brown to tan after drying, and slightly dark at the base of corolla tube; the last open buds are all tightly folded into a spherical shape, the calyx is tubular, with 8-10 slender teeth, the outer surface has longitudinal wrinkled stripes, and is thinly short hairy; the petals are elliptic, the apex is short pointed or blunt, and the base is combined into a tubular shape . The air is fragrant and the taste is astringent. Pure and white is better.

[chemical composition] the oil content of fresh flowers is generally 0.2-0.3%, and the main components are benzyl alcohol and its esters, jasmine, linalool and linalool benzoate.
