[plant morphology] oxtail
Climbing grassy vines, longitudinally furrowed, glabrous. Rhizome with many slender fibrous roots. Leaves alternate, ovate lanceolate to lanceolate, oblong, 2.5-8.5 cm long and 2-4.5 cm wide, apex pointed or acuminate, base truncated to round, basal veins 3-5, veins reticulate, glossy above and pale pink below; petiole base with 1 pair of linear tendrils. Flowers unisexual, dioecious; umbels axillary, long peduncle, bracts lanceolate; flowers yellowish green, male perianth 6, lobes lanceolate, female flowers smaller than male flowers; ovary spherical, style 3-lobed. Berries are purple black when ripe.
