Perennial tufted herbs, the whole plant with rust color curly pubescence. Stem erect, unbranched, striate. The basal leaves have stalks, and the leaves are oval, elliptic, long elliptic to lanceolate; the stem leaves have no stalks, and the leaves are oval or elliptic, gradually smaller upward. Inflorescence corymbose; calyx 5-lobed, lobes ovate, margin with long eyelashes, florescence reflexed; petals 5, inner orange yellow with purple brown spots, outer purple; stamens 10, slightly shorter than petals, filaments orange yellow; carpels 2, connate. Capsule ovate, ca. 5 mm, apically lobed. Seeds numerous, elliptic.
Born in alpine meadow and gravel. Distributed in Qinghai, Tibet, Gansu, Sichuan and other places.

Functions and indications: clearing liver and Gallbladder Heat and strengthening stomach. Treat hepatitis, cholecystitis, flu, fever, indigestion.
