Deciduous or semi evergreen shrubs, up to 4 m tall. Young branches hairy. Leaves opposite, ovate to ovate oblong, 5-8 cm long and 2.5-4 cm wide, apex obtuse, base rounded, margin denticulate, sparsely stellate pilose above, densely stellate pilose below and petiole. Cyme about 7.5-12 cm in diameter, margin with neutral flowers; calyx tube short, 5-toothed; corolla white, lobes 5; stamen 5; pistil 1, style short, stigma 3-lobed. Berry shaped drupe, oblong, red. The flowering period is from May to June.

It is planted in Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Hunan, Hubei, Sichuan, Henan and Fujian.
