[collection] in autumn, the ripe pumpkins were collected, the pedicels were cut and dried.

[medicinal material] the dried pedicel of Cucumis Melo is 5-6-angled, 2.5-5.6 cm in diameter, with residual columnar fruit stalk. The appearance is light yellow, slightly glossy, with sparse spiny short hairs and protuberant dots. Fruiting stalk slightly curved, about 1-2 cm thick, with 5-6 ridges, extending longitudinally to pedicel. It is hard, yellow and white in cross section, and there are often gaps. It is better to have a big base, yellow color and solid body.

It is mainly produced in Jiangsu, Anhui, Zhejiang and other areas.

[clinical application] it has certain curative effect on ascites with mild degree of advanced schistosomiasis. According to the observation of 34 cases, after taking the medicine, the urine volume of 4 cases increased significantly, ascites disappeared gradually, and food intake doubled; abdominal cavity of 23 cases decreased, weight lost, appetite increased, and spirit improved, but the urine volume did not increase significantly, ascites disappeared slowly; 8 cases were ineffective. Usage: take the pumpkin stem with handle (about 1 inch long), put it on the tile, bake it, grind it and swallow it; about 0.5g each time, 3 times a day, for 2-3 weeks.
