[synonym] puhuanggen (milk producing prescription), Pushan (daily herb), Pueraria (wild recipe), and pubaocao (common Chinese herbal medicine in Shanghai).

[source] it is the rhizome of Typha longibracteata or other plants of the same genus. See "cattail" for plant morphology.

[chemical constituents] the rhizome of Typha angustifolia contains 60-65% carbohydrates. The root of Typha latifolia contains 81% of carbohydrates.
