[plant morphology] Rattus rectangularis
Evergreen shrubs, 2-4 meters high or above. Leaves alternate, thin leathery, obovate or oblong obovate, 6-10 cm long, 2-4.5 cm wide, apex short acuminate, base cuneate or broadly cuneate, glabrous on both sides, margin sparsely serrate; petiole 1.5-2 cm long. Raceme axillary, 8-11 cm long, with leafy bracts; flowers white, ca. 4 mm in diameter; calyx 5-lobed, triangular, persistent; petals 5-valvate, obliquely lanceolate; stamens 5-longer than petals; ovary superior, 2-locular, stigma slightly 2-lobed, sparsely 3-lobed. Capsule 5-8 mm long, 2-valved, almost completely separated. The flowering period is from May to June. The fruit period is from September to October.
It grows in the side of the valley or the roadside of the mountain. It is distributed in Zhejiang and the south of Anhui to the south of Sichuan.
