Body oblong, 2.4-2.8 cm long. Abaxial surface dark olive green, labial base, outer edge of anterior sternal plate, both sides of Coleoptera greenish yellow. The head is nearly flat and slightly raised in the center, and there are shallow depressions and small dots on both sides of the forehead. Antennae 1 pair, yellowish brown. The anterior edge of labial base is straight, and there is a transverse depression near the anterior corner. The upper lip is narrow, round at both ends, curved at the center of the leading edge, half moon shaped. The compound eye is prominent. The anterior sternum is broad. Coleoptera has 3 rows of sparse longitudinal points, stipules equal in width, not obvious. There are 3-5 segments of abdomen with green and yellow brown markings on both sides. There are 3 pairs of feet, the forefeet are yellowish brown, the hind feet are reddish brown, and the middle and hind tarsals are dark. The base of male anterior tarsi is enlarged with sucker.
Living in ponds, paddy fields or ditches where there are many weeds, you can fly in the air at night. Good at swimming, good at catching small fish. The larvae are slender and have sharp mouthparts, and can prey on small animals and fish in the water. It is distributed in Hunan, Jiangsu, Fujian, Zhejiang, Guangdong, Guangxi, Hubei, Sichuan and other places.
