Physalis spinosa
Perennial herbs, 30-50 cm high. Stem erect, green, pilose, upper branched. Leaves alternate; ovate, apex pointed, base cuneate, entire, or undulate, ciliate, with petioles scattered on leaves and veins. Flowers small, solitary in leaf axils, petiolate; calyx short campanulate, 5-lobed, slightly fleshy, spiny; corolla short, campanulate, 5-lobed; stamens 5, inserted at the base of corolla; ovary 2-locular, ovules numerous. Berries inflated, green, enclosed in enlarged, fleshy persistent calyx. Many seeds, nearly oblate brown, with reticulate protuberances on the surface. Flowering in summer. The fruit period is late autumn.
