Evergreen dwarf shrubs, 40-40 cm high. Branches glabrous, sometimes branches and petioles scattered with tiny prickles. Single leaf alternate, leathery, ovate heart-shaped or heart-shaped, 8-15 cm long, 4.5-12 cm wide, apex acute or acuminate, margin acutely serrate, sparsely gray tomentose below, basal 5-veined, reticulate veins clearly below; petiole 4-8 cm long; stipules notched. Flowers white, 1.5-2 cm in diameter, 3-6 racemes or solitary in leaf axils; pedicel densely hairy; calyx bowl shaped, 5-lobed, apex caudal tip, densely hairy on both sides; petals 5, broadly rounded or broadly ovate, slightly longer than calyx. The aggregate fruit is spherical, 1.2-1.5 cm in diameter, red, and flowering in June to July. The fruit period is from August to September.
It grows on hillside shrubs and roadside grass slopes. Distributed in Hubei, Anhui, Zhejiang, Jiangxi, Guangdong and other places.
