Herbs annual, spreading or creeping, 6-20 cm long, base branched, glabrous or coarsely hairy. Leaves alternate; petiolate; obovate or deltoid oblong, 1-2.5 cm long, apex rounded, margin entire or coarsely toothed. Head, lateral, sessile or shortly stipitate, oblate, ca. 5 mm in diameter; involucre hemispherical, green, bracts round, concave and obtuse; flowers all tubular, heteromorphic; peripheral female flowers, purple; shorter than involucre, most; disk flowers bisexual, less, tube 3-5-lobed. Achene very small, no crown hair. It blooms in summer.
They like to grow in or near rice fields. It is distributed in the south of China.
