[pharmacological action] after intravenous injection of 0.4 g / kg in anesthetized dogs, Chongzhu decoction has significant diuretic effect, which is faster and shorter than that of Cucurbitaceae. In the first 12 hours after administration, the amount of urine increased by 31.5%. The rabbits were gavaged with 2 g / kg per day for 1 week without adverse reactions.

[clinical application] ① treatment of advanced schistosomiasis ascites

Take insect bamboo shoots and gourd, 3 times a day, 20 doses as a course of treatment. Avoid salt during treatment, give vitamin B and C, glucose, iron, etc. 23 cases were observed, ascites disappeared or significantly reduced, 7 cases improved consciously; ascites slightly reduced, 10 cases improved consciously; 6 cases did not change. Among the effective cases, 7 cases received antimony treatment after taking the medicine, and all of them successfully completed the treatment course. Practice has proved that the two drugs have significant diuretic effect, which generally starts on the third day after taking the medicine. After that, the daily urine volume will maintain at a certain level, and will not decrease after stopping the medicine. The diuretic effect of the two drugs is more significant than that of potassium salt, and longer than that of mercury. It can relieve the symptoms of patients under 40 years old with ascites formation period less than one year. It has little effect on hepatosplenomegaly and liver function. No side effects were found.

② Treatment of nephritis, with diuretic detumescence and other effects

According to the observation of 10 cases, edema disappeared in 17 cases, blood pressure decreased in 15 cases, phenol red excretion test improved and urinary protein, blood cell and tube type disappeared in 16 cases. The fastest time of curative effect was 3 days and the latest was 12 days. The shorter the course of disease, the faster the effect; and vice versa. Two of the 10 cases recurred after treatment and were still treated with the original method, but there was no significant effect. Usage: daily use golden gourd and insect shoot 3 money each (under 12 years old cut half), add water 500 ml, fry to 150 ml, 3 times.

In addition, insect shoot and gourd have different effects on ascites and edema caused by other reasons.
