[plant morphology] Saposhnikovia divaricata
Perennial herbs. Roots cylindrical or subspiniform, grayish yellow or dark brown. Stem terete, 30-80 cm high, branched, glabrous. The leaves are alternate; the basal leaves and the lower part of the stem are petiolate, and the basal part is sheath like; the leaves are pinnately divided in 2-3-way, and the lobes are ovate to lanceolate in 1-way, finally the lobes are lanceolate, with notched teeth on the edge; the upper part of the stem is simple, and the sheath is narrow and obovate, without expansion. There are 10-15 umbels in compound umbels. The petiole of umbelliform inflorescence is 1-2.5 cm long, containing 20-30 flowers; the involucre is 1-2 or absent, with several involucres, filiform linear; slightly shorter than the pedicel or the same length; the petals are 5, white, and the apex is curved inward. Suspensory fruit ovoid elliptic, 3-4 mm long, glabrous, dorsal rib, middle rib costate, lateral rib slightly broad. The flowering period is summer and autumn.
Born on hillside and forest edge. Distributed in Northeast, Hebei, Henan, Shaanxi, Shandong, Anhui, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Jiangxi, Hubei, Sichuan, Guizhou and other places.
[collection] the roots were collected in autumn and winter, cleaned and dried.
[medicinal material] the dry roots are cylindrical or spindle like with some branches. The outer surface is grayish yellow or dark brown, and there are ring-shaped transverse striations near the root head, with longitudinal striations and transverse lenticels below; there are stem base residues at the top. The section is white, with radial whorls. The smell is mild. It is better to be dry, solid and fragrant.
It is mainly produced in Shaanxi, Hebei and other places.
This product is also used as Peucedanum in Shaanxi, Shandong, Hebei, Henan, Guangxi and other places.
