Evergreen vines, 2-pinnate compound leaves, tendrils at the top of leaf axis, 4-6 pinnae, 6-8 leaflets each; leaflets elliptic rectangular, 3-8.5 cm long, 1.5-4 cm wide, unequal on both sides, apex rounded, base cuneate, leathery. Flowers yellow, fragrant, spikes axillary, or arranged in panicles; bracts linear, pubescent outside; calyx broad campanulate, calyx teeth, 5, far away, ca. 2 mm long; petals 5, rectangular, ca. 3 mm long; stamens 10, filamentous; ovary short stalked, style filiform, stigma concave. Pods flat, woody, glabrous, 30-100 cm long, 8-12 cm wide, 10-30 nodes, each node has a seed, seeds flat, nearly round, woody, 4-5 cm in diameter. The flowering period is from March to April. The fruit ripens in late August.
It grows in shrubs and hillsides. It is distributed in Guangdong, Guangxi, Taiwan, Yunnan and Eastern Himalayas.
