Annual herb, 20-50 cm high. The stem is erect, with branches from the base and longer internodes than leaves. Leaves opposite, elliptic lanceolate, apex pointed, base cuneate, often 3-veined; shortly stipitate. Cyme axillary or terminal; calyx 4-lobed, lobes lanceolate; corolla campanulate, pale yellow, 4-lobed below middle, lobes base with pit hole, extending into a long distance, shaped like anchor; stamen 4, inserted near the base of corolla, anther T-shaped; ovary 1-locular, style short. Capsule ovate or oblong, carpel divided to base.
It grows under the forest, at the edge of the forest, in the valley and in the grassland beside the water. It is distributed in the southwest of China, through the middle to the northeast.
