[plant morphology] Meconopsis spinosa
Herbs perennial, roots cylindrical or slender carrot shaped. The stem is 30-100 cm in height, with yellow juice, hard spines and several short flower stems from the axils of the basal leaves. Most of the basal leaves and lower leaves of the stem are oblanceolate or narrowly obovate, 7-25 cm in length and 1-4 cm in width. The apex is slightly pointed or obtuse, the base is gradually narrowed and long stalked, the edge is entire or undulate, and both sides are hard thorned. The upper leaves of the stem are smaller. Raceme usually has many flowers, only bracts at the lower part; petals 4-8, blue purple Lun, wide obovate, 2.5-4 cm long; stamens many, 1 cm long, anthers 1.5-2 mm long, filamentous; ovary ovate, dense yellow spines, style obvious, stigma capitate. Capsule long elliptic, dense thorny.
It grows in high mountains, valleys or hillsides. Distributed in Tibet, Yunnan, Sichuan, Qinghai, Gansu and other places.
