Herbs perennial, 20-60 cm high, all sparsely pilose. The root is conic, well developed, and the skin is ochre. Leaves opposite, odd pinnate compound; leaflets 3-9, terminal one largest, about 3 cm long and 2 cm wide, ovate or oblong ovate, margin irregularly serrate. Raceme terminal, long peduncle, pubescent; calyx 2-lipped; corolla 2-lipped, lavender, corolla 2-fold longer than calyx; stamens inserted in crown throat, only 1 pair developed below, 1 pair degenerated or absent above. Nutlets oblong.
