Shell 2 pieces, thick, slightly quadrangular. The shell is 36-48 mm in length, 34-46 mm in height and about 4 / 5 in width. The left and right shells are equal. Shell apex, slightly anteflexing, located in the middle of dorsal margin, slightly anteriorly. The middle part of the shell surface expands and contracts rapidly in front, back and near ventral margin, resulting in the formation of ribs in front and back margin, and heart-shaped in meniscus and? Surface. The growth lines on the shell surface are obviously thick, forming uneven concentric rings. The shell is white or lavender on the top, yellowish brown near the ventral surface, and there is a narrow black ring on the ventral edge. The inner surface of the shell is gray white. The hinge is wide. The left shell has a bifurcated main tooth; the right shell has two main teeth arranged in an octagonal shape; the side teeth are developed and all of them are flakes. The outer ligament is small and light yellow, and the inner ligament is very developed and yellowish brown. The coat mark is clear, close to the abdominal margin, the coat sinus is not very deep, and the end is blunt. The anterior adductor scar is slightly smaller and oval, while the posterior adductor scar is slightly larger and nearly four shaped. Mantle margin double-layered, inner margin branched with small tentacles. The water pipe is yellow white with tentacles at the end. The feet are well developed, laterally flat and axe shaped.
They live in shallow sea mud sand beach, and are distributed along the coast of China.
