[plant morphology] deciduous shrub or small tree, 2-5M high, stem, leaf, fruit stalk, bracteoles and calyx densely covered with stellate hairs and pubescence. Stem cylindrical. Leaves alternate, oval heart-shaped, 7-18cm in diameter, 5-7 palmately divided, margin obtuse teeth; petiole 5-13cm in length. The flower is large, about 8 cm in diameter; the petiole is 5-10 cm long, with nodes near the top; the bracteoles are 8-10, linear; the calyx is bell shaped, about 2.5 cm long, and the lobes are ovate; the petals are white or pink, gradually deepening after opening, single or double, and the base is connate with the stamen style; the ovary is 5-locular. The capsule is oblate, 22.5-3cm in diameter, with 5 petals and dense yellowish setae or woolly hairs. Seeds numerous, reniform, with long hairs on the back. The flowering period is from August to October and the fruiting period is from September to November.

[character] the leaves are mostly shrunken and broken, the intact ones are oval heart-shaped after flattening, 3-7-lobed, and the lobes are triangular. The upper surface is dark yellow green, and the lower surface is gray green. There are 7-11 veins on both sides. The taste is pungent.
