[plant morphology] citrus oleifera
Deciduous shrubs or small trees, up to 7 meters high. Leaves alternate on slender branchlets, almost sessile, densely arranged in two distinct rows, very pinnate; leaves linear oblong, ca. 1 cm long, apex obtuse; stipules linear lanceolate. Flowers small, yellow, unisexual, with short petiole, clustered in leaf axils; sepals 5-6, obovate oblong, less than 2 mm in length; petals absent; male flowers petiolate, most, disk glands very small, anthers 3-5, oblong, erect on a short style; female flowers subsessile, often mixed with male flowers in upper leaf axils, ovary half hidden in a ring disk. The fruit is fleshy, about 1.5cm in diameter, round and slightly hexagonal, yellowish green at first, and red at maturity. The flowering period is from April to May.
Distributed in Fujian, Guangdong, Guangxi, Yunnan, Guizhou, Sichuan, Taiwan and other places.

[collection] the fruits are harvested and dried in the sun from September to October.
[herbal medicine] the dried fruit is round or irregular, slightly six petaled, about 2 cm in diameter; the surface is brown, rough and uneven, with small verrucous protuberances, and the base is left with round stipe marks. It is hard to be broken, yellow and white after broken; the seed is not big. It is weak in Qi, sweet in taste and astringent in taste. It is better to be dry, plump, without stipe and leaf.

[chemical constituents] the fruit contains a large amount of vitamin C (1.0-1.8%), and the content is stable. It also contains tannins, including glucoside, gallic acid, paragallic acid, tanning yunshijing, proto acid, cheleric acid, cheleric acid and 3,6-digallocatechoglucose. The dry fruit contains 4-9% mucinous acid. The pericarp contains gallic acid, oleagic acid and other phenolic acids. The seed contains about 26% of fixed oil, 8.8% of pentamarate, 44% of linoleic acid, 28.4% of oleic acid, 2.2% of stearic acid, 3.0% of stearic acid and 1% of < U > < / u > acid.
[pharmacological action] the dried fruit was extracted with 80% alcohol, then ether, and acidified with hydrochloric acid to obtain a good antibacterial active substance; it had inhibitory effect on Staphylococcus, typhoid, paratyphoid, Escherichia coli and dysentery, but had no effect on fungi.
The results showed that the fruit extract could increase the body weight and the total protein content in the blood without changing the ratio of the protein parts, indicating that it had assimilation effect.
The water extract of Phyllanthus niruri L. has hypoglycemic effect.
