[nature and taste]: it is similar to Codonopsis pilosula, but has few branches. Only the part 1-3cm above the root has ring lines, and the quality is slightly soft with few cracks in the cross section. It tastes slightly sour. It is mild in nature, sweet and slightly acidic in taste.
[plant morphology]: it is basically the same as Codonopsis pilosula, and the main differences are as follows: except that the leaves are densely pilose on both sides, all of them are almost smooth and hairless; the leaves are ovate, narrowly ovate or lanceolate, 2-8cm long and 0.8-3.5cm wide, with blunt or acute tips at the top and wedge-shaped or round blunt and shallow heart-shaped at the base. Calyx 5-lobed, only base connate with ovary, filament longer than anther, ovary inferior. The capsule is large and purplish red at maturity.
