Annual herb, 25-90 cm high, 0.6-1.5 cm thick, brown villous. Upper leaves of stem sessile, lanceolate or oblanceolate, uppermost few subwhorled. One flower is usually on the top of the stem, and the other 3-4 flowers are on the leaf axils of the upper part of the stem; petals are 6-8, yellow, obovate, 6 cm long; stamens are numerous, about 2 cm long, anthers are oblong, about 4 mm long, filaments are narrow; ovary is ovate, densely yellow, scabrous, style is short, style is capitate.
