Deciduous shrub, up to 2 m high. Branchlets slender, brownish red, pubescent or glabrescent. Leaf blade long ovate to lanceolate, 3.5-9 cm long, 1.5-3.5 cm wide, apex long acuminate, base cuneate, margin sharply double serrate, pale below, reticulate veins protuberant, with pubescence on veins. The flowers are small, pink, arranged in compound corymbs, on the top of the branches of the current year; the calyx tube and lobes are pubescent; the petals are ovate to round. Follicles glabrous. The flowering period is from June to July.
It grows in the shrubbery on the hillside or beside the valley. It is distributed in Anhui, Zhejiang, Jiangxi, Hunan, Hubei, Sichuan, Yunnan, Guizhou, Guangxi, Henan, Shaanxi, Gansu, etc.
