Perennial herbs, 40-130 cm high, all glabrous and smooth. Taproot cylindrical or subspiniform. Stem erect, cylindrical, longitudinally striated and shallowly furrowed, upper branched. The leaves are petiolate, the petiole is 7-30 cm long, with broad sheath at the base. The leaves are oblong ovate to broadly triangular, 3-way and 2-way pinnate; the lobes are petiolate, the petiole is 2-7 cm long; the lobules are elliptic to long lanceolate, 3.5-6.5 cm long, 0.4-2.5 cm wide, the apex acuminate, and the base narrower. Compound umbel terminal or lateral, pedicel 5-12; involucre 8, lanceolate; involucre few, linear, reflexed; calyx teeth obvious, ovate; petal 5, white, obovate, apex with inflexed tongue; stamen 5, filaments curved, anthers elliptic, longitudinal, 2-locular; style 2, base low conic, ovary inferior, 2-locular. The fruit is elliptic to broadly ovoid, 3-4 mm long, with flat back, fine linear dorsal and median ribs, and broad wings on the lateral ribs. The flowering period is from June to August. The fruit period is from September to October.
