[plant morphology] Pyracantha fortuneana

Small evergreen shrubs, 1-3 m high. Branches usually spiny, branchlets rusty when young. Single leaf alternate, sometimes clustered; petiole short; leaf blade elliptic or obovate to obovate oblong, 1.5-6 cm long, 0.8-1.4 cm wide, apex rounded or obtuse, or with cuspidate, base gradually narrowed, margin serrate, dark green above, light green below; stipules small, caducous. Compound corymb; white flowers, about 1 cm in diameter; sepals 5-6, about 1 mm long, united with ovary; petals alternate with sepals, obovate, about 3 mm long, apex rounded or slightly concave, base short claw shaped; stamens young, filamentous, anthers yellow, white villi around base; carpels 5, ventrally separated, 1 / 2 connected with calyx tube, stigma capitate. The fruit is globose, 7 mm in diameter, dark red, with persistent calyx at the apex and 5 nutlets inside. The flowering period is from June to July. The fruiting period is October.

Born on a hillside facing the sun. It is distributed in Yunnan, Guizhou, Guangxi, Sichuan, Hubei, Hunan, Jiangxi, Anhui, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Henan, Shaanxi and other places.
