[plant morphology] Magnolia
Perennial herbs, 1-2 m high. The underground rhizome is creeping and lignified; the root is slender and curved. Stem erect, often tufted, basal essentialized, upper green, purple spotted, pilose. The leaves are oval or elliptic, 5-12 cm long and 2-5 cm wide, serrate in margin, dark green on the top and light green on the bottom, sparsely hairy, with many glandular spots on the veins. The inflorescence is numerous, arranged in corymbose shape, with branches and shoots. There is a small bract at the base of inflorescence; the involucre is bell shaped, with about 9 involucres, arranged in tile shape; there are about 5 tubular flowers, white; the lower part of corolla is tubular, the upper part is slightly wide, and the top is 5-lobed. Achenes 5-ribbed, glandular punctate, corolla white feathery. The flowering period is from August to September. The fruit period is from September to November.
Most of them grow on the sunny hillside, in the grass and beside the ditch. It is distributed all over the south of the Yangtze River.
