Qiao Yu, born in Shanxi Province, has a college education and no job.
On February 15, 2012, Qiao Yu was arrested by Chaoyang police for suspected fraud. On July 29, 2013, the prosecution accused Qiao Yu of defrauding Zhou Chenghai of 7.7 million yuan, as well as several famous watches, celebrity paintings and other properties. In court, Qiao Yu thought that he did not constitute the crime of fraud. In February 2014, Qiao Yu was tried for the second time in court for suspected fraud. Zhou Chenghai's brother Zhou Chengjiang and Qiao Yu's friend Miao and others attended the trial as witnesses. Qiao Yu insists that he has never received Zhou Chenghai's property, and that he is not a lover with Bai Jing, but lives together.
On March 24, 2015, the Beijing Second People's court found that Zhou Chenghai had defrauded him by 2.36 million yuan, and Qiao Yu was sentenced to 11 years' imprisonment in the first instance.

In early February 2012, Bai Jing sued for divorce on the grounds of her husband Zhou Chenghai's "infidelity".

According to the indictment, by 2013, Qiao Yu was 31 years old, born in Shanxi Province, university educated and unemployed. The prosecution read out the indictment, saying that from February to March 2011, Qiao Yu ordered Miao Pengxiang and Xia Jingwen (to be dealt with separately) to spray paint on Zhou Chenghai's Benz S350 car at the roadside of Xiaoyun road outside the East Fourth Ring Road in Chaoyang District and the parking lot of Qingniao fitness center of Zhaolong Hotel in the East Third Ring Road in Chaoyang District, respectively, and made up a false fact to Zhou Chenghai that they offended the "underworld boss". After that, Qiao Yu lied to Zhou Chenghai that he helped to dredge relations and solve problems through his father, in order to defraud Zhou Chenghai of 500000 yuan, a Patek Philippe watch and a painting (worth more than 400000 yuan).
From May 2011 to January 2012, Qiao Yu lied to Zhou Chenghai that the "underworld boss" wanted to cooperate with Zhou Chenghai in the development of real estate projects, but he had to operate through his father's relationship, and with high returns as bait, he cheated Zhou Chenghai of more than 7.2 million yuan, a Patek Philippe watch, two Rolex watches and golden peach ornaments. On February 15, 2012, Qiao Yu was arrested and some stolen goods and money were recovered.
