Dong Pei
Dong Pei (1828-1895), whose name is Meng Ru, was born in Yinxian county. He was fond of learning and good at collecting books. In 1866, he compiled the chronicle of Mingzhou department, which chronicles the establishment of a county in Mingzhou from the Zhou Dynasty to the second year of Tongzhi in the Qing Dynasty, the army, the relief, the auspiciousness and the tribute to the city. In the sixth year, he was elected as a lecturer of Chongshi and Bianzhi Academy in Ningbo. He is famous for his poems and ancient prose. He also excelled in history and made friends with Xu Shidong, a famous Confucian in the same county. In the seventh year, the county annals of Yin county were compiled, and Xu Shidong was in charge of his affairs. Later, Xu was critically ill, and on his deathbed, he held his hand and entrusted him solemnly. In the 13th year, he finally completed his book, which was based on Qian Daxin and Qian Longzhi, and made up for the mistakes and detailed textual research. In the third year of Guangxu (1877), he was a Jinshi. He was a magistrate of Jianchang and Shangrao counties in Jiangxi Province. He was good at prison analysis and water conservancy construction. He paid special attention to local literature and praised the sages. He encouraged himself by "strictly governing the prison, strictly administering the prison, surpassing the predecessors in speeding up the case, and disagreeing with the customs". He succeeded as the editor of Jiangxi Tongzhi library and helped to revise Jiangxi Tongzhi. In the 11th year, he resigned as an official due to illness and returned to Li. He built a mountain house on June 1st, and wrote 50000 volumes of books. He is also the author of "two Zhejiang Ling Chang Kao", "Tang Shu Fang Zhen Zhi Kao", "bamboo Chronicles", "Yongshang song and Yuan Poetry", "Yongshang Ming poetry", "Yongshang poetry", "Liuyi Shanfang poetry collection" and so on.
