In addition, his poetry anthology "a journey to America", "in the burning battlefield" and his long poem "mourning in January" have won many awards. His poems in the early 1950s reflected the ending of the war of liberation and the life of the Chinese people's volunteers on the Korean battlefield. In the middle and late 1950s, Li Ying drew more and more materials from his works, and patriotism was still the theme of his works. His poems depict the moving scenery from Inner Mongolia pasture, northeast forest region, Tianshan snow ridge to southeast sea border, outline the new appearance of people's life and labor, and express the joy of vigorous life everywhere in the motherland. Singing the soldiers who defend the new life is the main part of Li Ying's poems. Li Ying explores the secrets of soldiers' hearts from the scenes of daily life such as sentry, drill and emergency assembly, and sings about their loyalty to the motherland and the people and their broad mind. Li Ying also wrote a large number of lyric poems on international themes, expressing the struggle of people all over the world against imperialism and colonialism, and striving for national independence and people's liberation. The poems in this field are collected in the years dedicated to fire (1964) and the people on their feet (1976).

Creative features
Li Ying's poems have rich ideological connotations, which are mainly reflected in the following four aspects: first, strong patriotic feelings and optimistic spirit. For more than 40 years, Li Ying, as a soldier, fought with the Chinese people's Liberation Army. He climbed the plateau and snowy mountains, stationed in the northern frontier, and lingered in the magnificent scenery of the South China Sea and Xisha. Therefore, his military career gave Li Ying unlimited creative spirit, which made him write many poems on military themes. Li Ying is known as "the singer in the ranks of soldiers". He is keen to observe the world from the perspective of soldiers. In his poems, he praises both heroes and ordinary soldiers. He describes the cruelty of war and the hardship of border post conditions, but focuses more on the blood and youth of the soldiers, and composes a praise song of life. The optimistic spirit in Li Ying's poems is not the "mouthpiece" of political slogans, but under the careful conception of the poet, from the "little things" in the soldiers' daily life, to explore the sincere feelings contained in them. In the way of expression, Li Ying often uses humorous language and unexpected turns to make his military poetry more interesting and folk, which is closer to the aesthetic level of the masses. With the development of the times, the influence of Li Ying's Military Poems in the present age is not as good as that in the past, but reading the excellent works can still feel the indomitable spirit of the soldiers and the high spirited spirit of the times. Second, expose the dark social reality and praise the bright future of the times. Li Ying was born and grew up in a time when the land of China was suffering from war. Because of the war, he moved to Tianjin with his father from his hometown in Northeast China, and then lived a wandering life for a long time. Such a life experience made the poet deeply feel the turbulent reality in his youth. He boldly recorded and criticized the dark society at that time with his own pen. Thirdly, we should express our love for the natural landscape, understand the human history and write the beauty of life. Li Ying's personality is undoubtedly warm and open-minded. Unlike some poets, he is only nostalgic about his inner world. He is fond of exploring the unknown world and travels all over the world with his own poetic feelings and pen and ink. the great world gives the poet Li Ying a broader vision and realm, and also makes his poems present more diversified style features. In his poems after the 1990s, the poet's expression of nature has been strengthened, especially his description of the natural landscape in Qinghai, Tibet and other remote areas, which reflects the unique vision and deep feelings of a poet with rich experience. His observation of the frontier is meticulous. The expression of animals, plants and people there is no longer as simple as the same kind of poems in the 1960s and 1970s, but broader and deeper, with a more solid foundation of life. At the same time, it is far away from the political and realistic nature often found in early poems. Fourth, pursue true knowledge and think through poetry. Li Ying's abundant energy has enabled him to have a poetic career that many poets can't match. For more than 70 years, his works have described the war of resistance against Japan, the construction of new China, the pain of the cultural revolution, and the wave of reform In his later years, the poet pays more attention to the "internality" of poetry. There are a lot of philosophic poems in his works, which is not only his unremitting attempt and pursuit of the art of poetry, but also the real summary and sublimation of his long life experience. In his works after the 1990s, the poet's observation of the natural landscape and the expression of the sun, moon and stars are almost related to his own life and thought, and he pays attention to discovering some philosophical and religious things. His later works have a wide range of subjects. All the things he can see and hear can be put into poems and become poems, which can express anything at will. This may lack the enthusiasm of early poetry, but it is more calm and profound, and has a philosophy and nature for life.
