There are many versions of the legend about "Fourteen nights, eating bad soup", but the more recognized version is that Qi Jiguang, the famous Anti Japanese general, was chased to the immortal cave in Sanmen by Japanese pirates when he was fighting against the enemy in eastern Zhejiang Province. Local villagers saw Qi's army hiding In the cave, they were short of food for several days. They were hungry, so they took out the only food they had. But the villagers were also very poor. How could they have anything to eat? So the owners put together a little bit of Western food. They all have vegetables such as green vegetables, radishes and winter bamboo shoots. But they can't eat enough food and they can't take out so much rice. What should we do? So someone came up with a good way to chop these vegetables, put them into the pot, and then put some rice flour paste to cook them together, and cook them into a large pot of soup. The soldiers and the people ate together. After eating, the morale of Qi's army increased greatly, defeated the Japanese pirates and won the victory. This became the "bad soup" later. That day happened to be the fourteenth day of the first lunar month. Later, in memory of the Qi family army, the custom of eating rice soup for fourteen nights was preserved here. Now there are traces of Qi's army in the immortal cave of Sanmen. The special feature of "Fourteen nights, eat bad soup" is that every house is open and bright that night. No matter who you are, acquaintances or strangers, you can eat it door to door. Bad soup is also called rich soup. The more people you eat, the more families you eat. It means that people and money are prosperous. So every household will burn a large pot of bad soup, some salty and some sweet, and then turn on the lights in every room and open the door. One is to welcome the God of wealth, and the other is to welcome guests. I remember when I was a child, in the evening of the fourteenth night, I took a small "iron bowl" and a small iron spoon that I had already prepared. Therefore, the first pot of "bride's soups" must be the first one everyone wanted, and soon the bottom of the pot would be up. Generally, if the village was large and the population was large, it would have to make at least three pots, some even six or seven pots.
