Introduction to Korean Nong Yue dance (elephant Hat Dance)
Applicant: Yanbian Korean Autonomous Prefecture, Jilin Province
"Nongle dance", commonly known as "Nongle", is popular in Jilin, Heilongjiang, Liaoning and other Korean inhabited areas. Its history can be traced back to "stepping on the earth God" in the sacrificial ceremony of spring sowing and autumn harvest in ancient Korea. "Nong Yue Wu" is a comprehensive folk art which integrates music, dance and singing. The representative folk traditional activity "Nongle dance" of the Korean nationality, which originated from agricultural labor and has ancient sacrificial elements, generally has two forms: one is a plot performance in the form of dance and pantomime; the other is a mass performance with hot and rich traditional dance as the content at the beginning of the new year and the harvest season. The performance of "Nongle dance" consists of 12 parts. There are "small drum dance" performed by young men, "overlapping dance" performed by dance children, "flat drum dance" performed by many people, "Long Drum Dance" performed by both men and women, "Fan Dance" performed by many people with large flower fans, which originated from ancient "witch dance", fake dance "Crane Dance", and finally man's "elephant Hat Dance". Elephant hat dance has always been an eye-catching and exciting dance. The difficult skill of young male dancers' head swinging 20 meters long ribbon is dazzling, and has become one of the most prominent symbols of "Nong Yue dance".
During the performance, each village sent its own dance team to participate in the local celebration. The front of the dance team was led by Lingqi and a nongqi with the words "agriculture is the foundation of the world", followed by a man who beat a small gong at the head of the team as the commander in chief. Under his leadership, bands holding Taiping Xiao, trumpets and various drum instruments and various disguised figures form the honor guard part of the dance team. Next, there are performers performing small drum dance, flat drum dance, long drum dance, fan dance, Crane Dance, elephant hat dance, mask dance and pantomime, with unlimited number of participants. Elephant hat dance is an important form of Nong music dance, with complex types and diverse dance skills. It can be divided into "long elephant hat", "middle elephant hat", "short elephant hat", "line elephant hat", "feather elephant hat", "tail elephant hat" and "spark elephant hat". The techniques of throwing elephant tail include left and right throwing, front and back standing elephant tail, single throwing, double throwing, or even three throwing, standing throwing, squatting throwing, kneeling throwing, throwing on the ground and so on. The tail of the elephant is several feet long and several feet long.
Elephant hat dance is the representative dance of Korean nationality in China, which should be properly protected and utilized.
