Introduction to Buyi Opera:
Applicant: Ceheng County, Guizhou Province
Buyi opera, known as "Guyi" in Buyi language, is mainly distributed in Ceheng, Anlong and Xingyi counties where Buyi people live in the South and southwest of Guizhou. It is influenced by Han, Zhuang and Miao operas, singing Buyi music in Buyi language, and developing on the basis of Bayin sitting and playing and bench play.
The music tunes of Buyi opera include Beijing tune, rise and fall tune, Fanyan tune, Ma Daoling tune, zhengdiao tune, Changdiao tune, BAPU tune, Fandiao tune, Wuda Shengguan tune, Guochang tune, daocha tune, Chijiu tune, etc. the main accompaniment instruments include Jianzi huqin, Puzi huqin, flute, Xiaoxiao, Muye, Sanxian, pipa, Yueqin and Daqin Gongs, cymbals, drums, wooden fish, Baobao gongs, pony gongs, etc. There are fixed procedures in the performance of Buyi opera, which are generally composed of sacrifice, inviting ancestors to open the box, demoting three stars, adding officials, main opera, sweeping the stage, sealing the box and so on, among which main opera is the main part. The repertoire of Zhengxi includes two types: native repertoire and transplanted repertoire. The national repertoire mainly tells the stories of Buyi people, such as March 3, June 6, luoxixing, and empty people and money. Both singing and singing are in Buyi language, which has strong national characteristics. The repertoire is mainly transplanted from the folk stories of Han nationality, including yutangchun, the story of the boa constrictor, qinxianglian and ZhuYingTai. The repertoire is performed in "bilingual". The characters speak Chinese when they read "Introduction", "Dingchang poem" and "self reporting family", and use Buyi when they sing, dialogue and gag. In Buyi opera, there are division of labor among Sheng, Dan, Chou, king and general. The stage scheduling of each character is three or five steps, and they turn around in one turn. In the process of singing, they shuttle face to face, with lively form and simple style.
Buyi opera is mainly inherited by folk amateur troupes in villages. The troupe generally has more than 30 people, based on the natural village, with the troupe master as the leader. Each troupe must perform for its own village or villages without troupes during the Spring Festival every year, praying for the disaster, expelling ghosts and pestilence.
Buyi opera has research value in history, folklore, religion, drama and so on. It has played an important role in enriching and perfecting Chinese culture. However, it is not easy to see Buyi opera now, because many of the actors in Buyi opera are old, and it is difficult to find suitable successors, so there are fewer and fewer performers.
