Brief introduction of Lingao Fishing Song:
Applicant: Lingao County, Hainan Province
Lingao Fishing Song is an important kind of traditional folk songs in Hainan Province, which is mainly spread in Lingao area of Hainan Province.
Since the Han Dynasty, fishermen from the mainland have moved to Lingao County (the territory of danjun County in the Han Dynasty) to make a living by fishing. In Song Dynasty, the fishery in Lingao was quite developed. Fishermen are used to living by the sea. Unmarried adults have the custom of living together. The places where fishermen live together are called "men's hall" and "women's hall". On the night of the high sky and bright moon, they gather on the beach to fight and sing, and the songs of "Fishing Song at night" rise and fall one after another. When fishermen go out to sea, the fishing songs also float on the sea. Fishing grounds and village farms are all singing grounds.
Lingao fishing songs are the portrayal of Lingao fishermen's life, with a wide range of themes and rich contents, including history and humanities, fishing scenery, fishing net weaving, love life, sacrifice to sea protection god, etc. Fishermen's songs have a strong "seafood", the tune is as vast as the sea, as beautiful as waves. The melodious and lyrical "Li Li Mei Diao" is almost a household name in Yuxiang and enjoys a high reputation both inside and outside the province. "Li Li Mei Diao" was approved by the State Education Commission and incorporated into junior high school music textbooks.
Lingao fishing songs are favored by artists and musicians. In 1962, Tian Han, a famous Chinese Dramatist, went to Lingao to investigate and collect the wind, and wrote a poem praising: "there are several songs by the coconut grove, and the waves of the river are rising. There was also Liu Sanmei, who sang a lot in Lingao. " In 1977, Huang Zhun, a famous Chinese composer, went to Lingao to collect wind, saying that "the Lingao Fishing Song 'Li Li Mei' is one of the best fishing songs in China.". Lu Yuan, a famous composer, went to Lingao to pick up the wind, absorbed the beautiful melody of the Fishing Song "Li Li Mei Diao", and created the film episode "Xisha, lovely hometown". Lingao County was awarded the title of "hometown of Chinese folk art" by the Ministry of culture in 2003 for its famous fishing song. In November 2007, he won the first prize in the "Chinese Fishing Song Invitational Competition" held in Zhoushan Islands.
In recent years, due to the impact of fashion and pop music, Lingao fishing songs are in crisis of lack of successors. In 2008, it was included in the intangible cultural heritage list of Hainan Province.
